In order to aid our nursery caregivers in providing the best care for your child, we ask that you complete the sign-in sheet completely and accurately each time you come to the nursery. Be sure to indicate on the sign-in sheet if there are special instructions for your child such as food allergies or potty training. It is vital for us to know all of the information on this form to properly care for your child’s needs. A nametag and parent stub are provided for your child. Be sure to keep track of your parent stub as you will need it to pick up your child. No child will be released to anyone but the child’s father, mother, or legal guardian.
Parents/guardians of infants and toddlers are asked to take a pager to enable nursery caregivers to call them if necessary. All nursery rooms have a 10-minute cry limit. If the nursery team is unable to settle your child, you will be paged.
Please do not go beyond the receiving areas of each room. This can create disorder for the children and caregivers. There is also the danger of a child being injured or lost in the crowd. It is suggested that only one parent/guardian call for the child to avoid confusion at the door.
Please have your pager ready when you come to pick up your child. We also ask that you do not return to the room until you are ready to pick up your child, as they get very upset having you leave more than once. Please remember to be prompt in picking up your child.
SUGGESTIONS FOR YOUR DIAPER BAG:
Please label diaper bag and its contents with your child’s name. We do not encourage children to bring toys from home as it is difficult to remember what belongs to whom.
ROOM PLACEMENT:
Children are placed in rooms based on their age and mobility. Babies may be placed in the Infant Nursery as soon as parents feel comfortable leaving them. Once an infant begins to walk, they are moved to the Toddler Nursery, regardless of their age. When a child turns 2 years old, he may move to the 2-year-old room. Promotions into the 3-year-old class & Pre-K class will occur twice a year (the last Sunday of August and the first Sunday in March). In order to be promoted, the child must have turned 3 or 4 by the promotion date. Rooms are combined during certain services. Please check the door signs to find the appropriate room for your child at the time you are attending or ask the Nursery Supervisor for assistance.
ILLNESS:
In order to protect all of the children, please do not bring a child to the nursery that has had any of the following symptoms during the last 24 hours:
We are striving to make the nurseries as healthy as possible, however safety is also very important. Therefore, nursery caregivers are not allowed to dispense medication of any kind to any child, including prescription diaper rash ointments and teething medication.
FEEDING & SNACKS:
Because of the large number of children in our care, sometimes it may be difficult to feed your children at a certain time. Please bear with us. Cheerios, animal cookies, and other similar snacks are provided in the rooms. Please inform the caregivers of any food allergies that your child may have. Caregivers usually set a certain time for snacks in each room and limit the amount of snacks given to each child. Please remember to mark any bottle or cup you bring with your child’s name.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
All furnishings and any toys that have been in a child’s mouth are sterilized after the services. All beds are changed between children. All changing table pads are cleaned after each diaper change.
NURSERY CAREGIVER ROTATION:
If you have a nursery age child and are a regular attendee at Findlay Evangelical Free Church, we ask that you prayerfully consider sharing in the responsibility of adequate and quality nursery care by taking a turn on the Nursery Schedule. Contact the Director of Children’s Ministries or the church office for more information.
