Why Small Groups?
People grow in small groups! Churches grow because of small groups! One size does not fit all. Various types of groups meet the needs of people in different situations of life: physical, emotional, social, and spiritual.
It’s about growing people, not a program.
Maybe you are new to the Findlay Evangelical Free Church and you cannot figure out how to make new friends. Becoming a member of a small group is the first step toward making new friends. Friends who care about you – friends who will be there during both the good times and the bad. But making new friends is only part of the Small Group experience. In a Small Group, you will also learn more about God’s Word and how you can apply it to your everyday life.
Why Should You Join a Small Group?
The teaching and fellowship opportunities that are available in our Sunday morning programs provide excellent opportunities for individuals to learn about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. However, in order for an individual to continually grow in his/her relationship with Jesus Christ, these valuable Sunday programs must be supplemented by the more intimate teaching and fellowship that can only be found in a small group setting.
Small Groups at the Findlay Evangelical Free Church serve seven key functions:
Bible Study - Small Group members grow spiritually through the regular study of God’s Word in an intimate setting that provides the freedom to both ask questions and provide insights.
Caring – Small Group members grow spiritually by actively caring for the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the other members of the group.
Encouragement - Small Group members grow spiritually by sharing in the joys and the sorrows of the other members of the group.
Fellowship – Small Group members grow spiritually by simply spending time with one another.
Prayer - Small Group members grow spiritually by corporately praying for the needs of the other members of the group. Additionally, Small Group members support the church body by actively praying for the needs of the entire church.
Accountability - Small Group members grow spiritually through mutual accountability with the other members of the group.
Service - Small Group members grow spiritually through their faithful service and commitment to the entire church body and through their encouraging of others to do the same.
What Small Group Should You Join?
Our Small Groups reflect the diversity of our congregation. Currently we have many groups studying a variety of topics, either monthly or bi-monthly on Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday Evenings. Some provide childcare while others do not. The choice of group you are in is up to you, however, if you would like help in finding the group you would feel most comfortable in or have any other questions about our small group ministry, please contact Dave Cass, Pastor of Adult Ministries, at 419.423.5636 ext. 30.
