Findlay Evangelical Free Church began with a core group of four families who sensed the need for a practical Bible teaching Church in the Findlay area. As the group met together for prayer and Bible study they sensed that God was calling them to start a new church that would be Biblically based and culturally relevant. The group affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America, a theologically conservative denomination known for its commitment to Scripture as the inerrant Word of God, to evangelism, and church planting.
January 18, 1987 marked the first meeting of Findlay E-Free. In just a few short years, our church grew from a handful of people meeting in the YMCA to hundreds of people celebrating together every weekend. God has amazed us every step of the way. We moved into our current location in 1996.
After 22 years as the Sr. Pastor, Adam Zaslavsky stepped down due to health reasons. In September 2010 Blair Hayward was called as the Sr. Pastor. Pastor Blair, a 2002 graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, spent seven years as an Associate Pastor in a growing church in Michigan before moving with his family to Findlay. He leads a very capable staff of five full time pastors (Equipping, Lighthouse Campus, Congregational Care, Worship, and Youth), one full-time children's director, one part time children's assistant, one part-time worship assistant, one part-time creative communications, one full-time and two part-time administrative assistants, and two part-time custodians.
